Frederick County Executive Jessica Fitzwater is proposing that the county provide $2.5 million in aid to organizations helping county residents dealing with the impacts of the federal government shutdown.

Fitzwater said Friday she is asking the Frederick County Council to approve a budget amendment for $1.5 million to provide grants to nonprofit organizations in the county and an additional $1 million for local food banks to help them meet demand.
