A Jacksonville man was left with serious injuries on I-95 North in Volusia County after a hit-and-run crash involving a tractor-trailer on Wednesday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Officials said that before the crash, 28-year-old Kyle McCombes was on the outside shoulder of the interstate working on his disabled car. The semi-truck was traveling north in the outside lane and didn’t see the man on the shoulder and struck him. The driver did not stop to render aid.
McCombe’s fiancée found him lying on the ground two hours later after he called her to tell her that he was stranded. The impact of the truck amputated his right leg, crushed his right arm and hand, and left gashes in his head.
