Even as the Supreme Court, with a bench of Justices Vikram Nath, Sandeep Mehta and N V Anjaria, flagged the “alarming rise in dog-bite incidents” and ordered immediate removal of stray dogs from educational institutions, hospitals and transport hubs, Ahmedabad is staring at a full-blown crisis.
New data from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) shows that 66,136 people have been bitten by stray dogs between January and October 2025. That works out to a shocking 181 dog bites every single day in the city.
