ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — With uncertainty about the future of SNAP benefits, communities are coming together to make sure people have access to meals. In Elizabethtown, hundreds of cars lined up to fill up bags of food.

“We brought an entire trailer load. It’s enough for 1000 households,” Charles Dennis, the executive director of Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland, said.

The City of Elizabethtown teamed up with Feeding America, Kentucky’s Heartland to provide relief for those struggling to make ends meet.

“We’ve got over 5000 households in this community on SNAP,” Julia Springsteen, a City Council Member for Elizabethtown, said. “This is just one small effort to feed as many people as we can today.”
