JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ky. —

Residents in southern Jefferson County are being warned to avoid waterways that may be contaminated following Tuesday's plane crash.

In a Facebook post on Friday, MSD warned that runoff from the crash is now being found in waterways like the Northern Ditch, the Southern Ditch and Pond Creek.

Neighbors near Northern Ditch, like David Taylor, said they have seen crews cleaning up the creek off of National Turnpike since Wednesday.

"Everything runs down the Northern Ditch and eventually gets to Pond Creek and the Ohio River. So I know all those chemicals are coming through," Taylor said. "We don't know the toxins that burned. We don't know what was in the auto parts places and the other warehouses and barrels, which is all going to end up going to the river."
