US President Donald Trump's administration on Friday asked the US Supreme Court to halt a judge's order requiring it to promptly fully fund this month's food aid benefits for 42 million low-income Americans during the US government shutdown.
According to Politico , Solicitor General D. John Sauer asked the Supreme Court to grant a stay “by no later than 9:30 pm Friday,” so the administration would not have to make “an irretrievable transfer of billions of dollars” by the day’s end.
This came after a federal appeals court refused for now to pause a judge’s order requiring the Trump administration to fully fund November food-aid benefits to 42 million eligible Americans, reports claimed.
