CLARKIA, Idaho – Two hunters were reported overdue after getting stuck in the snow outside of Clarkia, resulting in one of them dying.

According to the Shoshone County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call early Thursday morning about the missing hunters. They had informed a friend the previous evening that they were stranded in the snow.

The caller provided details about the area where the hunters typically went, allowing a backcountry team to be dispatched to begin searching.

Despite efforts from the Sheriff’s Office, friends and family, the hunters were eventually located by relatives after a full day of searching.

Deputies said the pair’s pickup became stuck in the snow. The male hunter tried to get help using an ATV, but it also became stuck due to the snow and rough terrain.
