SPOKANE, Wash. — Across the Inland Northwest, millions of people are breathing a sigh of relief as food stamp payments came in for Washington and Idaho residents after two federal judges ruled that the Trump administration was required to fully fund SNAP .

"Got it last night and I was like...a sigh of relief. Totally. Totally," said John Kaeser, a Spokane resident and SNAP recipient.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Friday that it is working to send out full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program payments to 42 million Americans. Shortly after the judges' rulings requiring the payments to be made, lawyers for the Trump administration filed a motion to appeal, but were struck down. The administration says it will ask the U.S. Supreme Court to hear its request.
