FARGO — Both Minnesota and North Dakota are asking the Trump administration for $1 billion to invest in rural health care.
North Dakota's Health and Human Services officials call it a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
Wednesday, Nov. 5, was the deadline for states to submit applications for the Rural Health Transformation (RHT) program.
The $50 billion program was created to help offset the potential impact of upcoming cuts to Medicaid and Medicare.
North Dakota Health and Human Services divided its proposal into four points.
The state says it would use $162 million to recruit, train and keep health care workers in rural communities.
Nearly $86 million would be for two new state programs: Eat Well N-D and N-D Moves Together.
