The Senator from Massachusetts edges out the incumbent Vice President by fewer than 120-thousand votes.
1966:
Future President Ronald Reagan makes the jump from the silver screen to politics.
The then-movie actor is elected California's governor. He wins the White House fourteen years later.
1949:
