A crash in suburban Downers Grove prompted a large emergency response from police Friday evening, witnesses said.

Around 6 p.m. Friday, police were seen at the intersection of Maple and Belmont in Downers Grove, witnesses said.

An employee of the nearby Angelo's Foods told NBC Chicago around 6:30 p.m. that there was a crash in the intersection and over a handful of police squad cars responded to the scene.

No additional information was immediately available.
