While Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill's victory has commanded attention, the Democratic Party also claimed another important prize in Trenton: seats in the Assembly.

As Sherrill spent time in Trenton on Nov. 5, meeting with Gov. Phil Murphy and setting up her transition office, more races in the lower chamber were called in favor of the Democrats.

For the current session, Democrats hold a 52-28 edge over the Republicans. As the aftermath of the election has become clearer, the Democrats have bolstered their majority — by as many as five seats.

Where are the Democrats' gains?

As of Nov. 6, races in four Assembly districts had not been called. With the results as they stand, Democrats would pick up five seats.
