NEW ORLEANS —
Rock of Ages Baptist Church provided relief to families struggling to get food on the table Friday with a massive giveaway.
The church distributed 70,000 pounds of fresh food and groceries on Franklin Avenue to support approximately 400 families affected by delayed SNAP benefits. Advertisement
"Hearing from them, seeing them, my concern is that these are things that we do on a weekly basis because there is always somebody left behind," said Pastor Jonathan Everett.
The church also gave away $40,000 in gasoline cards to furloughed federal employees at two Shell locations.
