HICKMAN, Ky. (KFVS) - The City of Hickman, Kentucky, dedicated an “In Memory Of” headstone to John Hughey, who served in the U.S. Army.
Veterans and city leaders dedicated the headstone during a ceremony on Friday.
The ceremony included a 21-gun salute, the playing of Taps, and a presentation of the American flag.
Hughey fought with the 2D Ohio Cavalry in the U.S. Army during the Civil War. He was presented with the Medal of Honor after his actions at Deatonsville, Virginia on April 6, 1865.
Hughey was born in Louisville in 1836 and died near Hickman, Kentucky in 1900.
