Holiday hotspot airport introduces new EU passport control system View Image

A holiday hotspot that gets roughly three million British tourists each year has begun implementing a new system for some travellers. People arriving at Tenerife South will begin to see the new European Union Entry/Exit System (EES) being implemented.

This means non-EU citizens may be required to register their biometric data when passing through the border, which can include photographs of faces and fingerprint scans. The system is being introduced in many airports in the Schengen area to help reduce long queues stemming from travellers at the passport control area.
