Brave racegoers have been forced to bring umbrellas and jackets as wet and wild weather hit Melbourne on Saturday.

The final day of the Flemington carnival, Champions Stakes Day, was a disaster on the weather front, with temperatures barely reaching double digits and rain tumbling down.

But despite the grim conditions, racegoers were determined to make the most of it and still flocked to Flemington in droves.

Umbrellas were essential, while jackets that are usually seen in winter were needed to combat the weather.
