CLARKSVILLE, Ind. — On Nov. 6, around 8:12 p.m., Clarksville police responded to a call near a Walmart and soon located a vehicle belonging to 22-year-old Shane A. Leffler stopped at a red light on Veterans Parkway.

During the traffic stop, one officer positioned in front of Leffler’s car reported that as he exited his vehicle, Leffler accelerated, attempting to strike the officer and ramming his patrol car. Officers retreated inside for safety, and a pursuit ensued that traveled from Clarksville into Louisville.

During the chase, Leffler struck the same officer’s vehicle and collided with civilian cars. The pursuit ended on the Saint Catherine Street ramp, where Leffler attempted to flee on foot. Officers noted he was armed with an AR-15-style rifle, which he dropped while running. He w
