DENVER (KDVR) — Close friends say the woman killed in last week’s Interstate 25 crash near 6th Avenue by a wrong-way driver is Jamie Kisting.
The 29-year-old was killed, they say, after leaving her job at a popular south Denver bar, in the early morning hours of Oct. 31, attempting to get onto the highway and head home.
The other driver was also killed.
Kisting’s best friend, roommate and partner says she had moved to Colorado from Wisconsin in 2019 and had become a bar supervisor, as well as a bartender.
“We have so many people grieving, mourning,” said best friend Pete Aldinger. “It shouldn’t have happened.”
Aldinger says more needs to be done to protect drivers near the I-25 and 6th Avenue interchange.
