A Miami-Dade sheriff's deputy was shot and killed Friday in the line of duty following a traffic stop in Kendall, Florida.

Deputy Devin Jaramillo, 27, died after what the sheriff described as a "brutal and senseless" attack. Jaramillo, a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida, had recently been sworn in as a deputy.

The incident occurred near a warehouse when Jaramillo responded to a traffic crash. Investigators believe he was involved in an altercation and may have been shot with his own weapon. Jaramillo was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
