CLEVELAND — As the federal government shutdown continues and impacts flights across the country , AAA says travelers are reaching out with their concerns, with many trying to understand how far the ripple effects could spread.

"We're getting questions and that's good, because it means people are thinking proactively," said Jim Garrity, director of public affairs for AAA East Central. "Even though you may be flying from an airport or to an airport that's not impacted, you could be connecting, and there could still be downstream effects that impact airports across the country."

With no clear timeline on how long disruptions could last, AAA says anyone with a flight — including around Thanksgiving — should prepare backup options.
