LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Supreme Court has temporarily blocked a lower court order requiring the Trump administration to fully fund SNAP payments, impacting approximately 150,000 Nebraskans. In Lincoln, a local nonprofit is working to address the increased need for food.
On Wednesday, The Gathering Place served 295 hot meals, a new record for the organization.
Lisa Janssen, has worked at The Gathering Place for nine years, expressed the importance of their work during these challenging times.
“It means a lot that we can be reliable, dependable for people who are struggling right now,” Janssen said. “This is just the right thing to do to make sure people have the basic need of food.”
