BRISTOL, Connecticut — The Bristol Board of Education has officially approved the renaming of two school gymnasiums in honor of Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy, two fallen members of the police department who made a lasting impact on the community.
Both DeMonte and Hamzy played significant roles in the Bristol school community. Their dedication, leadership and presence in the lives of students and staff left an enduring legacy.
In October 2022, Lt. DeMonte and Sgt. Hamzy tragically lost their lives after being ambushed while responding to a 911 call. Though several years have passed, the Bristol community continues to honor their memory and the ultimate sacrifice they each made in the line of duty.
