PLAINS TWP. — Wilkes-Barre Area quarterback Jake Howe reached two goals Friday night — one individual and one team.

The two intertwined in a 42-14 victory over Williamsport in the District 2/4 Class 6A championship game.

Howe became the Wyoming Valley Conference all-time passing leader in yardage, surpassing Berwick’s Ron Powlus (1990-93). In doing so, he threw three touchdown passes as WBA extended its season for at least one more week.

“Those were three of my goals coming into the season,” Howe said. “First it was hopefully win a district championship and we did that. Then the yards and the touchdowns, those were my goals, and I was glad I was able to complete them, but mainly I’m glad the team won the district championship.”
