In Turkiye, the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office has issued arrest warrants for 37 individuals, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, over charges of genocide linked to the Gaza war.
Other names include Defence Minister Israel Katz, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.
The warrants cite Israel’s alleged
targeting of civilians, including the Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital attack on the 17th of October, 2023, which Israeli and US intelligence say was caused by a failed rocket launch by Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
Turkiye’s President supports Palestinian armed group Hamas, and the prosecutor has a history of issuing warrants against political opponents and journalists, including opposition leader Ekrem Imamoglu.
