For more than a decade, alleged gang boss Michael 'Cazza' Carroll has been conspicuous by his absence.

In all that time he hasn't set foot in his native Salford after an uber-violent gang war erupted there in 2015. To his enemies at least, he fled as as 'grass rat snitch police informer', according to the graffiti daubed on walls across the Ordsall estate close to what used to be his home.

It is believed his adopted home has been the billionaires' playground of Dubai, the sparkling jewel in the crown of oil-rich United Arab Emirates.

But his time there appears to be under-threat, according to gangland sources, after he encountered a problem trying to renew his passport.
