COVINA — The Northview football team waited over two years for a rematch with Bonita after falling to the Bearcats 21-20 in the first round of 2023 CIF-Southern Section Playoffs.
In the long-awaited rubber match between two of the area’s best programs, Bonita came out on top 31-19 in Friday night’s CIF-SS Division 5 first-round playoff game.
The Bearcats (7-4) will host Loyola, a 17-14 winner over Newberry Park, for next week’s quarterfinal matchup.
“For us to be able to come out here and do what we did tonight … I’m just super proud,” Bonita coach Bo Beatty said. “The amount of things we’ve gone through this year … I’m proud, very proud.”
