Last year the Palm Desert boys' water polo team's season ended with them hoisting the CIF-SS Division 5 championship plaque, pulling off only the sixth title in desert history.

This year, the Aztecs were in the tougher Division 4 and the season ended Tuesday in the second round of the playoffs at the hands of a talented Hemet squad.
