The Election Commission of India (ECI) has warned that booth-level officers (BLOs) in West Bengal skipping door-to-door visits while distributing enumeration forms for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state will face strong disciplinary action.
The commission has directed the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal, and the District Electoral Officers (DEOs) to initiate strong disciplinary action as per rule against BLOs who are ignoring directives on door-to-door visits, sources in the CEO’s office said.
At the same time, the sources added, the commission had also directed the DEOs to thoroughly investigate cases of BLOs distributing enumeration forms in particular places, skipping door-to-door visits.
