Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) staff who are losing their jobs have warned the cuts will hurt "the most vulnerable". Over 120 staff are likely to lose their jobs as the Lincoln Support Centre shuts.
Ian Fisher, Lincolnshire and Rutland branch chair for DWP , spoke out at a picket line outside Lincoln City Hall. Workers have warned that cuts to their jobs could mean families with children on Universal Credit would face delays in their payments.
“Most of us have been here for 20 or 30 years,” Ian told the Local Democracy Reporting Service. “Many are the lowest-paid civil servants who are facing a bleak future in a place where there’s already high unemployment.
