The Ashes shapes as a defining series in the career of Cameron Green and a period the all-rounder can cement his status as a future leader of Australian cricket.
That is the view of Australian greats Adam Gilchrist and Mark Waugh, but they remain concerned as to where he is best suited to batting and are mindful doubts as to whether he will bowl are causing issues for national selectors.
Gilchrist compared the position Green, who performed well in the Caribbean when batting at No.3 after showing good signs at No.4 against New Zealand 18 months ago, is in his career to that of former Aussie skipper Steve Waugh back in 1989.
