The season's first blast of winter weather arrives today with a mix of rain and snow spreading across the state. Some light, slushy accumulation is possible for northern, and northwest parts of Iowa this morning into the early afternoon.

Colder air settled in across the state overnight, but temperatures have largely remained above freezing, sitting in the mid-30s. Meanwhile, moisture has been increasing to our west, with rain and snow showers developing across Nebraska and South Dakota.
