It wasn’t a trip I would choose to do on my own. But when my dad told me he was thinking of going on this vacation, I told him it sounded like fun. He responded, “Want to come with me?”

I hesitated. Nothing on the trip would be new to me. It would mean going back to a place where I lived for 10 years, and all the other stops along the way would be familiar places from both my childhood and adult years. Plus, it was kind of a tough time of year since my son was back in school and I’d have to make a bunch of arraignments for things to get taken care of at home in my absence. And would I want to spend the money?
