Iam, and always have been, a superfan of The Traitors .
Long before the show aired, I loved the card game Werewolf – the inspiration behind this masterclass in deception.
But as a TV format it remains the greatest game show on telly. It’s both wonderfully silly while also unlocking insights into our psyche and prompting the watching audience to reflect on human nature. Thursday night’s endgame was shocking – both jaw-dropping and hilarious in equal measure.
As for the winner, he shouldn’t have survived an hour, yet there he was at the very end. Has there ever been a more bungling, hysterical, dastardly yet loveable winner of a British game show? His willingness to murder his celebrity friends in plain sight meant he deserved to triumph.
