A controversy erupted in Bihar’s Samastipur on Saturday after a video surfaced showing a large number of Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) slips scattered along a roadside. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) alleged that the slips were ejected from Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
The district administration, however, clarified that the slips were from a mock poll conducted before polling on Thursday and not from actual voting. Samastipur District Magistrate (DM) Roshan Kushwaha said a probe revealed that excess slips were cut after the mock poll, but some were found without being shredded.
