JACKSON COUNTY, MI – A popular fish and chips shop in northern Michigan is coming to the Jackson area.
Mother and son duo Mindy Ozenberger and Taylor Wager are opening a Scalawags Whitefish & Chips franchise at 1200 W. Parnall Road in Blackman Township, which previously housed Big Dog BBQ and Todoroff’s Original Coney Island.
Announced on social media , the real estate family are expanding their portfolio to the Jackson-area. It’s planned for the restaurant to open sometime in December, Ozenberger said.
Scalawags Whitefish and Chips was established in 1992 in Mackinaw City, according to the restaurant’s website. Opened seasonally, the restaurant is known for its whitefish, tartar sauce, whitefish chowder and hushpuppies.
