HAMPTON, N.H. —

The Hampton Police Department says it is investigating what appeared to be an accident involving an e-scooter.

Officers said they received a 911 call around 12:54 a.m. Saturday about a person down on the ground in the area of Ashworth Avenue and G Street.

Responding crews said the man was found unconscious and not breathing.

He was declared dead at the scene.

As of 7 a.m. Saturday, the Hampton Police Department said it was not publicly identifying the victim so it could notify his next of kin.

Officials are asking people in the area of the accident to check their home security cameras for any footage from around the time of the incident.
