Stranger Things is set to return for its final series, with Netflix treating fans to an exclusive glimpse of the opening five minutes of season five.

The streaming giant dropped the thrilling footage on November 7, packed with jump scares and chilling sequences.

The preview focused on Will Byers (portrayed by Noah Schnapp) during his initial confrontation with a Demogorgon, as he battled frantically to survive.

Tragically, his efforts proved futile, and viewers discovered it was Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) who had orchestrated his abduction.

As Vecna seized control of the defenceless Will's body, he informed the boy they would create "beautiful things together", reports the Mirror .

A tentacle was shown entering Will's mouth as Vecna demonstrated the full extent of his abilities.
