ROSELAND, La. — The Tangipahoa River has reopened to boat traffic and recreation following a , which leaked contaminants into the waterways.
The river fully reopened to the public on Nov. 7, f , according to the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
The LDEQ announced the reopening with the Tangipahoa Parish Government and under the oversight of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Officials described the milestone as a major step forward in restoring public access to the river while continuing to safeguard water quality and surrounding ecosystems.
Cleanup and recovery work will still be active, in select areas along the Tangipahoa River, LDEQ said, and residents are asked to remain cautious around ongoing operations. Boaters are urged to avoid disturbing containment boom
