As children, many of us loved dressing up as superheroes. I remember grabbing worn towels from the hall closet, tying them around my neck, and running around the house declaring myself Batman or Superman. We looked to these heroes because they represented power, courage and doing good in the world.
As we grow into adulthood, we still need heroes — though of a different kind. We need people who offer wisdom, support and examples worth following. We need those who show us what faith looks like when lived authentically through life’s many seasons of joy and struggle.
Recently, many Christian churches around the world observed All Saints Day, a time to honor those heroes of faith a congregation may have lost from their community in the past year. This practice invites worshipers to remember
