A man has died and another is fighting for life after a suspected brawl in NSW’s Northern Rivers region.

A 31-year-old man presented to Lismore Base Hospital with serious head injuries about 2.50am on Friday.

He was later airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

About 3.5 hours later, the body of a 25-year-old man was found on a walking track near Fischer St in Goonellabah about 6.20am.

Police believe the men may have been involved in a fight at Clifford Park, near Cassia Crescent in Lismore, earlier Friday morning.

A crime scene has been established on the walking track as investigations continue.
