UPDATE: A manhunt has ended after more than a week as Gary Jody Childers is now in custody, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office. He was wanted out of Alabama and captured in Georgia.

They say Floyd County, Georgia deputies took Childers into custody at around 10:15pm on Friday, November 7.

DeKalb County authorities said the search included "several days of intensive investigation, multiple false leads and long hours."

Childers faces charges in DeKalb County for attempted murder and "certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm." The sheriff's office says he faces federal charges as well.
