WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. —

The Supreme Court issued an emergency order late Friday night , granting the Trump administration's appeal to temporarily block a Rhode Island judge's order to fully fund SNAP payments amid the government shutdown.

The order to block the full SNAP benefits will now be in place until the appeals court can review the government's case in the next two days.

The move leaves one million Massachusetts residents in limbo, as their SNAP funds were set to go out on Saturday.

Gov. Maura Healey responded in part, saying, "President Trump's cruelty knows no bounds. After going a full week without money for food, Americans finally had a glimmer of hope that help was on the way ... But President Trump just took that away again."
