Carson-Newman University’s Theatre Program and Music Department will present the timeless classic “Mary Poppins,” the weekend of November 13-16.

The production is directed by Kyle Biery, Carson-Newman’s Charles Fuller Chair of Drama.

A musical, “Mary Poppins” features music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman with additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, and a book by Julian Fellowes. The musical is based on the similarly titled “Mary Poppins” children’s books by P. L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film and is a fusion of various elements from the two, including songs from the film.

Set in 1910, the musical follows Bert and the troubled Banks family living in England. The group, including children Jane and Michael Banks, are visited by a new nanny
