APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - Last Friday night, officers with the Appleton Police Department (APD) made seven different arrests for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI).

A Facebook post from Appleton PD both thanks the responding officers and details the importance of keeping impaired drivers off the road.

"Officers Matwiejczyk, Shuman, Kroening, Looker, Thor, DiFrancesco, and Schinke (with Officer Van Dinter as FTO), each encountered and arrested an impaired driver during their shift [last Friday]," the Department's post reads. "Their vigilance and dedication reflect the kind of work that often goes unseen but makes a real difference in keeping our community safe."

Officers noted that APD maintains zero tolerance for drunk or drugged driving, adding that "accountability keeps people alive."
