Sudbury recorded a loss of 800 full-time jobs in October, Statistics Canada says in its latest jobs report.

Mirroring national results, the region also added 800 part-time positions, leading to an unchanged number of total jobs in October, StatsCan said.

As a result, he unemployment rate in Greater Sudbury was 6.6 per cent last month, down 0.1 per cent from September.

The unemployment rate stood 3.9 per below the peak from June 2020 and is on par with the long-run average.

Full-time employment was still down 3,600 jobs from the peak in June of this year.

Nationally, Canada’s unemployment rate fell to 6.9 per cent in October, down 0.2 percentage points from the month before, as the economy added 67,000 jobs — mostly concentrated in part-time work.
