Three first-year students from NIT Silchar on Saturday fell into a waterfall in Assam’s Dima Hasao during a visit there. As of Saturday evening, police said that they were still missing.
The three students – two women and a man – are from the institute’s Computer Science and Engineering department. One of the women hails from Bihar, and the other two are from Uttar Pradesh.
They had visited the waterfall, located in Harangajao in Dima Hasao, around 60 kilometres from their campus, on the weekend with a group of friends.
According to ASP (Crime) Dima Hasao, Faruque Ahmed, the police first received information about the three students falling into the waterfall around 3 pm.
