NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. — The North Charleston Police continue to investigate an incident that occurred at a local high school on Friday morning that ended with an officer drawing a gun on a student.
Police said they were called to Fort Dorchester High School after a staff member reported the incident to the school resource office. The employee reported that a student had made a claim about another student allegedly carrying a gun. The resource officer went to the cafeteria and found a student who matched the provided description.
The department said that the student was asked to take his hands from his hoodie pockets and responded by telling the officer he had a weapon. Police said the officer then drew his service weapon and told the student to lie on the ground.
