Oscar Piastri's torrid second half of the Formula 1 season has continued in São Paulo, crashing out of the sprint race and watching title rival Lando Norris win.

In wet conditions, Piastri was running third in the early laps before putting a tyre onto the wet curbs at turn three and spinning off the circuit.

The Australian was not the only driver to be caught out in the same spot, at the same time, with Franco Colapinto and Nico Hulkenberg spinning off moments after and force the race to be stopped. Loading Twitter content

Once the session was restarted after the red flag, Norris converted pole position into a win, extending his drivers' championship lead to nine points over Piastri.

"Just dipped a wheel on the white line of the kerb and around I went," Piastri said.
