Is floor-crossing wrong?
If he was still around – and some of us pray to God, daily, that he was – we could ask Winston Churchill.
Churchill, as you should be aware, is the fellow who saved the world from Naziism and fascism, and was a colossus of democracy. He is, and was, without equal.
In 1904, however, the greatest-ever Parliamentarian defected from the Conservatives to the British Liberal Party. The Conservatives were becoming a tad too protectionist, so Churchill – a passionate believer in free trade – became a Liberal. He literally “crossed the floor” to the Liberals in the British Parliament.
