Family and friends are mourning Richard Arcos, a 41-year-old Garfield father who was fatally stabbed in Bayonne earlier this week.

Andrew Fuentes, 28, of Bayonne, has been arrested and charged in connection with Arcos’ death, Acting Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello said.

A GoFundMe titled “Help Our Family Lay Richard to Rest and Seek Justice” was launched by Tracey Garcia to help cover funeral costs and legal expenses. The campaign had raised more than $6,700 as of Saturday, Nov. 8.

“Our hearts are shattered by the sudden and tragic loss of Richard Arcos, whose life was unfairly cut short,” the fundraiser reads. “He was a loving father, son, and friend — a man with a beautiful heart, strong will, and unshakable character.”

The family described Richard as “dependable, protective, and always there for the people he loved.” They said he was “the rock to his beloved sons, Justin and Eliaze,” adding that “their bond was truly unbreakable.”

Arcos was born in Hoboken to the late Belgica and Victor Arcos, according to his obituary on the Barquin Funeral Home website. A lifelong New Jersey resident, he lived in Garfield and is survived by his children, Eliaze, Justin, and Richie Jr., along with his siblings, Olga Yunes, Victor, and Rafael Arcos.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m., and again on Wednesday, Nov. 12, from 9 to 10 a.m., at Barquin Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary R.C. Church in West New York, with burial at Fairview Cemetery.
